Pepper Seared Ahi Tuna with Ginger Slaw

Yield 4 Appetizer Portions

Prepare 1 recipe Walla Walla Onion dressing, recipe follows.

 

In a Mixing bowl gently toss together:

1 Cup fresh Fennel Sliced Thinly

1 Cup Baby Carrots thinly sliced

1 Cup Icicle Radishes

1 Cup European Cucumbers Thinly Sliced

½ Cup Sliced Pickled Ginger

Set aside for up to an hour refrigerated

 

For the Pepper seared Tuna:

 

2- 6oz.  Sashimi grade Ahi Tuna Steaks

pinch of salt

3 Tablespoons Coarsely ground Black Pepper

1 Tablespoon Grapeseed or vegetable oil

 

place a medium sized heavy skillet over med-high heat, when hot add the oil and then the tuna steaks that have been seasoned with the salt and pepper, brown well on both sides about 30 seconds per side, then place on a cool plate in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

 

To serve, place a spoon full of the dressing into the center of the plate, then a mound of the slaw and then arrange slices of the Tuna around the slaw, Serve.
